Dear Parents and Guardians:
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, the Student Transportation Services Branch (STSB) remains dedicated to ensuring safe and reliable transportation for all students. Please review the following information regarding our transportation options and registration procedures. We encourage you to note the important deadlines listed below.
1. School Bus Service – Quarter 1 Applications Open July 13, 2026
The Hawai‘i State Department of Education (HIDOE) offers school bus services to support student access to educational opportunities at participating schools.
Eligibility Requirements:
Students in grades K-5 must reside 1 mile or more from their home school.
Students in grades 6-12 must reside 1.5 miles or more from their home school.
Students must be actively enrolled in a HIDOE public school where bus service is available.
Due to the current bus driver shortage, priority for available service is given to elementary students and those receiving specialized transportation services as outlined in their Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
Registration
