KES SY 2020-2021 Modified Opening
Aloha Kalei‘opu‘u Families,
This coming school year will be different from what we are used to in many ways. As we plan and implement many of our procedures we must always consider the health and safety of our students, staff and community. Therefore, this handbook addresses the changes we’ll need to make that follows the Department of Health guidelines to ensure safe practices throughout the year.
The faculty and staff of Kalei‘opu‘u Elementary School want to express our appreciation for your resilience, patience, support and understanding as we navigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We understand that you may be concerned about your child’s education and wondering how our educational system will be operating as we start the coming school year. We are committed to welcoming students back in the safest and most nurturing way possible and we hope to provide you with the information you need in order to make the best decisions for your family.
This Parent Guide will be a “living document”. Please keep in mind that it will need to change as conditions are always changing. Our model for the modified reopening of this school year reflects the need to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, and school community. We will constantly be monitoring the current situation and adjust based on the guidelines and recommendations from the Department of Education and Department of Health.
